On October 31, 2020, Reverend Greg Drumwright led a march to the polls in Graham, NC. During a peaceful rally at the courthouse, marchers, including a 5-year-old and a woman on a scooter, were pepper-sprayed by Alamance County Sheriffs deputies and the Graham police. Gary Pearce of Triangle Talk Show has edited together videos from various sources to give a timeline of the events and compares this to a later march that was allowed to proceed peacefully to the polls.
Our Raleigh Impeach and Remove event is set for Tuesday, December 17 at 5:30 in Bicentennial Plaza. The impeachment vote is scheduled for Wednesday, 12/18, but even if that schedule changes, we will still protest on Tuesday evening.
We are very excited to have some fantastic speakers, musicians and over 1500 attendees! We will start with a rally at 5:30, have a march (under 1 mile) around the Capitol Building or a vigil in the plaza and then a closing rally back in Bicentennial Plaza.
Please keep inviting people to this event. You can use this link to spread the word by email and social media. Send it far and wide so people can find the event closest to them. On social media before and after the event, use the hashtag #NotAboveTheLaw. If you take pictures during the event, please send them to email@example.com
The sun will be setting as we gather, so bring a flashlight if you have one. Signs and costumes are welcome. If you can’t get there at 5:30, no worries, we will be there until 7:30 at least.
Above all, we want to have a peaceful protest, one in which children and physically fragile people can be safe and we all feel comfortable. If there are counter protesters, don’t engage them. We also want to be respectful to the police. If we all are vigilant keeping each other safe and being welcoming and friendly, we will have a great rally.
Thank you for your support of democracy, the rule of law and our constitution at this crucial time in our country’s history. You are making public support for impeachment visible.
Please feel free to contact us with questions or concerns. You can also post questions on our facebook event. We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday!
